4 Amazing Scenic Drives Near Las Vegas
There is an overwhelming number of things to do and see in and around Las Vegas — not the least of which is the scenery. Whether you live nearby or are visiting from out of state, here are four amazing scenic drives in the area.
Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon offers a 13-mile driving loop that passes by several overlooks and breathtaking rock formations. To get to Red Rock Canyon from the Strip, drive west on Charleston Boulevard/SR 159 until you see Scenic Loop Drive on your right.
Las Vegas Strip
Start at Mandalay Bay on South Las Vegas Boulevard and continue for 4 miles until you reach the Stratosphere. There will be plenty to see from your car, and you can make a list along the way of places you’d like to visit. Go at night to see everything lit up.
Mt. Charleston Loop
If you prefer mountain views, the 55-mile Mt. Charleston Loop is for you. Start northwest of Las Vegas on U.S. 95, then head east on SR 157 until you reach the junction with SR 158. Turn north here on 158, then onto SR 156, which will take you back to 95.
Lake Mead
To the east of Las Vegas off U.S. 93 sits the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Once there, you can choose one of several scenic drives that offer stunning contrasts between the Nevada desert, Lake Mead, and colorful rock formations.
