DIY Car Maintenance Tips
Even if you have never done any work on a car before, the following maintenance is simple enough for anyone to perform.
- Change the Air Filter – The air filter prevents contaminants in the air, like leaves and dust, from getting sucked into your car’s engine. To change it, simply open your hood and pop the metal clips off of the black case that houses the air filter. Just pull out the old filter, insert the new one and put the cover back on.
- Replace the Windshield Wipers – When your windshield wipers aren’t adequately wiping away moisture, it’s time to change them. Just pull the wiper away from the windshield, press the tab on the bottom of the wiper, pull off the old wiper and put on the new one.
- Replacing Bulbs – From your brake lights to your tag lights, bulbs are an important safety feature on your car. Check them regularly to ensure they are operating. If they aren’t, replace them. To do so, pull the bulb out of the bulb holder and insert a new one.
