3 Day Trips from Las Vegas

Las Vegas is an international tourist destination, but who says your fun has to stop with the city limits? If you’re a visitor who wants to explore beyond the casinos or even a local looking for a change in scenery, try spending your day at one of these locations instead.

Hoover Dam

One of the most impressive dams in the world, Hoover Dam is popular with tourists for a good reason. The direct route is I-515 onto US-93, but if you want a scenic route head east on East Lake Mead Boulevard onto Northshore and Lakeshore Roads.

Bonnie Springs Ranch

This frontier-themed motel and park comes with a zoo, horseback rides with ponies for the kids, and an outdoor pool and tub. You’ll find it tucked away in the Mojave Desert by traveling north or south on NV-159, and either way you’ll see some incredible sights during the trip.

Death Valley National Park

The driest spot in North America sits just across the California border, and the best way to get there is on NV-160 and NV-190. The valley may sound desolate, but the park also features amazing mountains and canyons along with artifacts left by human habitation. Before you go, however, make sure you have some comfortable clothes, sunscreen, and plenty of water.

The deserts of the American West may be short on life, but they aren’t short on beauty or on sights to see. If you find yourself in Vegas, don’t limit your entertainment to the casinos when there’s plenty to see in the countryside.
